Fibromyalgia

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Can Diminish
Fibromyalgia Syndrome

“The study provides evidence that HBOT can improve the symptoms and life quality of FMS patients. Moreover, it shows that HBOT can induce neuroplasticity and significantly rectify abnormal brain activity in pain related areas of FMS patients.”

A New Treatment Modality for Fibromyalgia Syndrome: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

“There is no information about Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy for managing Fibromyalgia Symptoms (FMS) in the current literature. The proposed role of hypoxia in FMS, however, prompted us to evaluate the effectiveness of hyperoxia provided by HBO therapy. In our study, we think that HBO therapy was successful in breaking the pain-hypoxia vicious cycle since it decreased the number of tender points and VAS pain scores by increasing the pain threshold. HBO may be an effective and relatively cheap alternative treatment modality for patients with FMS, especially for those with chronic pain.”

Low-frequency Pulsed Electro-magnetic
Field Therapy in Fibromyalgia

“The PEMF group showed significant improvements in FIQ, VAS pain, BDI score, and SF-36 scale in all domains at the end of therapy. These improvements in FIQ, VAS pain, and SF-36 pain score during follow-up.

Conclusion: Low-frequency PEMF therapy might improve function, pain, fatigue, and global status in FM patients.”
